Scholarships

In addition to the scholarships offered by Michigan State University, we offer a variety of merit and need-based scholarships in Art, Art History, and Design.  

 

 

NEED-BASED MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

For students identified as need-based by Michigan State University, we offer scholarships for incoming freshman majoring in Apparel & Textile Design, Art History, Art Education, Graphic Design, and Studio Art. When applying to MSU and indicating your intended major, you will automatically be considered for these scholarhips at application. Award of the scholarships is contingent on admission to MSU and evidence of financial need demonstrated by the FAFSA application. To remain eligible, students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA each semester.

Scholarships include:

  • Art History & Visual Culture Scholarship | 4 year - $1,200 each year
  • Apparel & Textile Design Scholarship | 4 year - $1,200
  • Royer-Webb Endowed Studio Art Scholarship | 4 year - $1,200
  • Sally Swiss Endowed Scholarship (two offered) | 4 year - $1,500
  • Ralph Calder Studio Art Endowed Scholarship | 4 year - $1,500
  • Rohem Endowed Scholarship | 4 year - $1,500

 

CREATIVE ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS

We invite MSU applicants who intend to major in Art Education, Graphic Design, Studio Art, or Apparel & Textile Design to apply for these our Creative Arts Scholarships.Each year, the department gives up to three awards to our incoming freshman based upon their creative work. Winners are chosen based on high quality of artwork and potential as an art student at Michigan State University. Award of the scholarships is contingent on admission to MSU. First place will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship renewable for four years, second place will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $1,500, and third place will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $1000. Students do not need to demonstrate financial need, but are required to have their creative portfolios reviewed.

 

HOW TO APPLY

Application information for both the Need-Based Merit and Creative Arts scholarships for incoming fall 2018 freshman will be available in October 2017. Check back here for more information in the fall.
