Rebecca Schuiling is drawn to the wide array of textile materials, from the fibers and filaments to structures and formations. She is versed in creating textile structures with knitting, weaving, and plaiting, along with surface design using screen printing and resist dying methods such as Shibori and Batik. Illustration and apparel rendering is a further area of interest that informs her teaching.
Rebecca also explores textile materials as dress. She examines dress for its contributions to shaping the socio-cultural worlds of the wearers and its ability to both conceal and reveal.
