College of Arts & Letters Students and Staff Earn Several ADDY Awards

One of the top awards presented at this year’s Mid-Michigan American Advertising (ADDY) Awards competition went to Graphic Design junior Jordan Brooks for his “Wizard of Oz Book Cover” entered in the Sales + Marketing – Publication Design – Cover category. Brooks received a Judge’s Choice Award in addition to a Silver and Bronze ADDY. Five other College of Arts & Letters students received Gold ADDYs; six students, including Brooks, earned nine Silver ADDYs; and six other students were awarded Bronze ADDYS.

All Gold ADDY award winners are automatically forwarded to the District 6 competition, which represents AAF clubs in Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. District award winners will be notified, and all District Gold ADDY winners are then entered into the National ADDY competition.

Hosted by the Mid-Michigan Creative Alliance and the American Advertising Federation, the ADDY Awards allow students and professionals to showcase their advertising work and compete in seven separate categories. The awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types.

This year, each piece was assessed by four judges: Jacob Rosenburg, Associate Creative Director of Design for Commonwealth/McCann; Niki Condon, VP ACD at Cramer Krasselt; Tom Flanigan Creative Director at FCB Chicago; and James Thigpen Jr., American contemporary artist whose work explores the multifaceted experience of Black culture.
