The Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University is pleased to announce Home Away From Home, a solo exhibition by Bachelor of Fine Arts degree candidate Mei Kiengsiri.

In this exhibition, I ponder about what I long for the most as a Thai artist working in the US. Passing memories emerge as culturally driven patterns and landscapes, which I use as motifs in both my paintings and sculpture works. Installations of my domestic scene are an invitation to recall certain moments of my life, specifically during the COVID-19 global pandemic, through my perspective. The enclosure of the scene is claustrophobic and intimidating, while the vivid world outside is full of the visual culture that I long for but cannot get to.
