Meat Bone Spirit

Second Year MFA Exhibition by Jacob Ashba

September 29-October 10 | Reception: October 2, 6:30-8:30

Kresge Art Center | Gallery 114

Meat Bone Spirit is a body of work that confronts the viewer with the physical reality of the self. By utilizing the medium of paint and pastel, my art exposes the beauty of a human being by celebrating the grotesque. With exposed muscle, bone, and blood, I contrast the visceral textures of red flesh and tranquil blue spirit. Through these figures, I seek to capture the fragile nature of being a consciousness inside a body.

Kresge Art Center Galleries hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, and are open to all.
